About

This website was created by Luca Dellanna and funded by Vitalik Buterin’s Kanro foundation.

Luca is an Italian author, researcher, and risk management expert who is also an external lecturer at several institutions, including Genoa University. Balvi is a non-profit focused on epidemiological research.

Luca Dellanna is not an epidemiologist (for example, he never said the general population shouldn’t wear masks during a respiratory virus pandemic) or a virologist (he doesn’t believe that building a virus lab inside a 10-million-people city such as Wuhan is a good idea).

However, Luca has gotten more things right about the COVID pandemic than most epidemiologists and virologists. Already in January 2020, he was urging people to wear masks to lower community spread, and already in early February 2020, he was urging countries to take the coronavirus outbreaks more seriously to prevent the risk of costly lockdowns.

In March 2024, Balvi awarded Luca a grant to, among others, create this website and produce educational material about the pandemic.
